I want to get some of these 7 segment leds for a clock: [http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8530](http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8530)

they say the maximum is 12.4v

I’d like to be able to plug it into a wall, with the 12v wall adapter. it says it is regulated, and be no more than 14v!

does this mean it will burn out the leds?

I don’t really want to take the chance, seeing as how they are 15 dollars a piece.

anybody have any idea?

It’s late; I’m tired; my brain isn’t working at full speed, but… I have this vague recollection that there are devices that make a voltage more regular. If only I could recall what they’re called…

This is also an opportunity to apply current-limiting resistors.
