Hi folks,

Quectel sent me another new firmware, posted in [this repo](https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RTK_Postcard/tree/main/Firmware); look for LG290P03AANR01A06S\_PPP\_TEMP0829.zip. It’s also available below.

[LG290P03AANR01A06S\_PPP\_TEMP0829.zip](https://community.sparkfun.com/uploads/short-url/REfOajxvgXWDpaTXGDzskaZUNr.zip) (2.4 MB)

This time based on v05 so all the new features (GST, elevation, etc) are ostensibly supported. From the file name, I hope this firmware IDs itself properly as v06 so we can track it a bit better. Also, from Quectel: “Entering the PPP floating stage means that convergence has occurred.” so I think we can more accurately tell when we’ve reached convergence.

I have not used or tested this firmware. See [the original post](https://community.sparkfun.com/t/beta-firmware-support-for-has-on-lg290p/66725) for a good discussion of the HAS/E6 accuracy and performance of the v03 0812 test firmware. I don’t suspect much improvement with this firmware, but it’s great to see Quectel cleaning up the annoying bits (firmware version, features added back) in this version. If anyone wants to test it and report their findings, there are many folks here who would benefit from hearing about it.

Thanks.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve had no luck.
The postcard hangs with the word Rover and won’t advance.
I tried v2.2 and v2.3 and couldn’t advance.
I look forward to your comments.

I read that Quectel reports that the new version 6 only works with the original dpi datum and they’ve removed wgs84.
That’s too bad.
I haven’t been able to find out what the original dpi datum corresponds to.

Best regards, Angel

Update:
Set the postcard to 1 Hz.
With firmware 2.2, I updated the LG290P to v6.
It started without problems with the cable still connected to the PC.
SWmaps tells me it’s in floating resolution, but the port shield screen shows 0.000 accuracy.
Then I rebooted and the same problem as yesterday returned.
The postcard gets stuck on the screen that says Rover.

So I went back to v2.2 and signed v5.

Hi,

The beta firmware allows 1, 2, 5, and 10 Hz, despite the notes. The interesting thing is that GST does not perceive the PPP calculations, while SWmaps considers the difference between RTK and PPP with only GGA (in accuracy field). I’ll start by saying that HAS isn’t yet suitable for surveys, but it can be used as a backup by setting age in RTK to 3. I’m doing dynamic tests on car routes, and these are the parameters:

PQTMGNSSSTOP\*09 #works now

$PQTMCFGCNST,W,1,1,1,1,1,1\*2B # better all,for rtk purpose

$PQTMCFGPPP,W,2,2,90,0.01,0.01\*54

$PQTMCFGMSGRATE,W,GGA,1\*0A #only

$PQTMCFGRTK,W,1,1,3\*73 age for consent quick revert to PPP\_Has istead of rtk\_float

$PQTMCFGCNRTHD,W,15.0\*10 #CNR

PQTMCFGELETHD,W,15\*31 #Elev. mask

You may notice that if the rtk\_fix is lost, it suddenly switches to HAS, which I consider better than RTK float or DGPS. The only flaw is that the coordinates of the HAS solutions differ from the RTK ones, even assuming you use ITRF2020, it remains to be seen which reference system “original” uses (module or Galileo)!

Hi Bamarcant.
You know, I haven’t been able to test it because the postcard with the port shield doesn’t start when restarting and gets stuck on the Rover screen.
Too bad.
I’m waiting to hear from Sparky to see if he can help me with this.

Overall, RTK is supposed to use coordinate system of the used reference (CORS) station, that is usually locally/continental tied (but could also be itrf at installation epoch). HAS coordinates are in itrf at present epoch (itrf2020@now). In Western Europe, the difference is about 80 cm. We can already see it when loosing RTK and switching back to DGPS.

Hello.
I’d like to confirm that anyone has been able to successfully use v06 LG290p with v2.2 or v2.3 for the Postcard RTK.

_Ciao Angel,mi dispiace per l’inconveniente…_

In my free time I’m trying different settings, even forcing the base fixed position on “relative” (50/60cm difference from ITRF2020 fixed point) coordinates obtained from the HAS correction; but it changes daily with movements of up to 60/80cm from the previous fixed point; however, by setting $PQTMCFGRTK,W,1,1,1\*71 the age at 1 I obtain fairly consistent values between rtk and has…

Sorry @amlago - I release the Quectel firmware as we receive it so that users who have the breakout and or the Postcard can try it out. Using the beta LG290P firmware is a very manual process to configure the LG290P on the Postcard (you have to know how the ESP32 will change the configuration of the LG290P). It will be a few more weeks before we can integrate this Quectel beta firmware into our production ESP32 code for the Postcard.

Hello friends.
Quectel sent me version 06 for LG290p following my email request, but we still don’t have any fixes for Galileo HAS.
In other words, we’re testing a version 06 with Galileo HAS provided by Sparkfun, but the final version they’re sending doesn’t have anything to do with PPP.
Another step backward.
If you know anything else, please let me know.

It’s a .zip file. I put it in .txt so I could upload it.
It’s the zip file sent by Quectel.

@amlago, thanks for sharing !

It appears Quectel wasn’t ready to finalize HAS support into V6 just yet.
RTKHOLD was a higher priority, or at least it was easier to implement.

I was told v07 is the first release that will have PPP (HAS E6) capabilities officially added to the main codebase. For now, the [LG290P03AANR01A06S\_PPP\_TEMP0829.zip](https://github.com/sparkfun/SparkFun_RTK_Postcard/tree/main/Firmware) (note the PPP\_TEMP extension) is a branch that includes PPP but excludes the RTKHOLD and other features being added. This is confusing, and I’ve let Quectel know as much. I’m just happy they stopped calling it v03!
