# lassen iQ help

Hi

I am using the trimble lasssen iQ gps module

and was trying to read raw data from it onto my pc

when i run iQ monitor it works fine

but if i try to read data onto hyperterminal it just spews out garbage

can some one help

thanks

ps

i tried all the settings on hyperterminal

baud rates-4800

and 8-N-1

and i believe all the options available none of them gives out the right data

its all abunch of gibberish

I am working with the USB development board for the trimble lassen iQ that spark fun ships out

i got the entire starter kit

I believe you are looking at the TSIP data. Check the manual

[http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/GPS/ … -Setup.pdf](http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/GPS/Lassen-iQ-RS232-Eval-Setup.pdf) for setting up the eval board for use with HyperTerminal to see the NMEA messages.

i was able to reconfigure the module manually and its working fine
