Hello, I want to use the SparkFun NEO-F10 and BlueSMiRF v2 boards to transmit GNSS NMEA data to my Smartphone over Bluetooth BLE. Can this be done by simply soldering the BlueSMiRF v2 to the NEO-F10 via the 1x6 header, disabling USB-RX on the NEO-F10, and setting the desired baud rates on each board? What firmware is needed–off the shelf or do I need to write or modify existing code?
Welcome Gent58! In short, yes. The BlueSMiRF can connect directly to the NEO-F10N breakout. I recommend using male/female headers so that you can disconnect the BlueSMiRF if needed. Note that you may need to change the baud rate so that they match. I think the default baud rate of the NEO is 38400, and the default of the BlueSMiRF is 115200bps, but give the hookup guides a read and you should be good to go.
