The trick is to keep checking the status bar. If it says “Connecting to…”, wait until it changes to “Connected to…” or the connection dies. If it says “Connected to…” DO NOT refresh, or you will kill the active connection. If the connection dies by itself, feel free to refresh.

I wonder when its over will the site be back to its original speed? I really want to place my order, if the items are still in stock. I’ve been waiting for weeks.
I had a window up on a separate computer and I’ve refreshed every timeout I’ve gotten since it started and I’ve only seen the home page once. This is looking less and less legit to me, there is no way someone that is sitting at a computer hitting refresh is getting an order through.

I thought the same thing and just turned off images in IE. Not getting me any closer to putting order in, though.

I’m sure the Pentium II server they have is on fire at this point. How could they not foresee this problem? I hope they can find a way to dig themselves out of this mess but I imagine there will be some backlash from unhappy customers. Do I really care about free 100 bucks, no, but it doesn’t look good for SparkFun as a company. And I probably would have bought stuff anyways even if it wasn’t free but good luck checking out anytime soon.
