I own a Facet L-Band unit which has been working great in my property survey.
After the demise of the pointperfect correction service, I have been trying to use an NTRIP source to get a fix. I am using the CRTN (managed by UCSD) service through SWMaps.
CRTN sends RTCM3.3 data.
The connection is OK and the unit shows that it downloads data. However, a fix is never achieved. The base station is close-by.
I also tried to use the built-in NTRIP client using Wifi, which also seems to connect but with the same result (no fix).
Looking further into the RTCM3 stream I get by using SNIP, it seems like messages 1005 and 1006 are never sent. I do receive messages 1013, 1029, 1077, 1087, 1097, 1127 and 1230.
Could be the cause of my problem? I believe it is…
@wildcattle, I took a peak at the CRTN site. It appears to use MSM7 messages. They may have chosen to not bundle the 1005 message into the MSM7 stream.
There is a quick way to test, by trying the 3.1 stream. It’s not MSM, but will include the station messages :
News 10/22/2025: RTCM3.1 streams are now available for users with legacy equipment. To access an RTCM3.1 stream just change the mountpoint to XXXX_RTCM3P1 instead of XXXX_RTCM3, where XXXX is the station code. Everything else is the same.
I guess it’s worth a try…?
Mountpoint: P198_RTCM3P1
Note: the 3.1 stream will only be GPS + GLONASS
I do know that previous Sparkfun users have operated RTK with the CRTN NTRIP in the past. But maybe not since the recent changes (August 2025) ?
The F9P inside the Facet L-Band can consume MSM7 over NTRIP, but the station information is required, apparently.
Please check that you are sending your location to the NTRIP Service. In SW Maps (NTRIP Client), it is “Send NMEA GGA to Base Station”. In RTK Everywhere, it is “14) Toggle sending GGA Location to Caster” / “Transmit GGA to Caster”.
I actually managed to get an account on Earthscope which is the source for this station, but sadly, there is still no 1005/6 reported by SNIP. So still no solution. Hopefully, the lady at CRTN will respond to me.
I’m just answering out of curiosity
It seems like “198” often goes offline on the CRTN caster port 2102 but online on Earthscope port 2101
and this is the stream
