# Programming Arduino Pro Mini

Hi guys

I am trying to program a SparkFun Arduino Pro Mini 16Mhz/5V with a [[FT231X breakout](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13263). If I connect the TX pin of the programmer to its RX pin, I get an echo effect in Serial monitor. However, when I try to upload a sketch, I get the following error:

Well I feel foolish. Just had to select “Arduino Pro or Pro Mini” from the board menu. All working now 🙂
