[Project] Event-based 3-axis accelerometer firmware for OLA — high-speed (~5.4 kHz) logging with 2-unit cross-trigger

Sharing a firmware remake of the OLA in case it’s useful to anyone here. It’s an event-based acceleration logger (using onboard ICM-20948, 3-axis only) with high-speed sampling up to ~5.4 kHz, aimed at shock and vibration capture.

Highlights:

  • Event capture — buffers a rolling history and writes only a window around each shock (pre- + post-trigger, auto-extending), so you keep the transient and write 10–1000× less data. Data within the window is consistently sampled without SD-write/activity stalls.
  • Two-logger cross-trigger — wire two units together (3-wire) and both record the same event when either is triggered, with automatic pairing and a synchronized start.
  • Configurable entirely from the serial menu (or OLA_settings.txt); per-event decimal-day timestamps; integer CSV output.

Repo — code, README, wiring, and figures:

It’s a heavily redone version of the OLA firmware, stripping out all other functionality (attribution in the repo). Not requesting support — just putting it out there, and happy for any feedback. I will continue to update repo with findings and updates.

Very cool, thanks for sharing your work!

Very well documented :cowboy_hat_face:
