Perhaps this is a bad idea at my level of incompetence 
, but I have an old Librem 15 laptop and the battery is swelling. More specifically two of the six 3.7V 2500mAh 9.25 Wh Li-Polymer Rechargeable Batteries inside the battery pack have swollen. Two that are stacked on top each other, one vertically, one horizontally. They are connected by small boards on the short side of the batteries, with one small + connector and another - connector . I don’t expect to get much use out of it, probably just for email and news/music, that’s how I’ve been using it since I got it second-hand. It’s just swelling on one end now and I’m certain I’m not going to get a reasnably priced replacement in reasonable amount of time from Purism . I can replace the whole thing from 3rd party, but it is unlikely the same size or shape, and, by contrast, it looks to me to be an easy soldering job in my spare time and I’m not sure what other inconsistencies I might get if I don’t rebuild. If the only reasonable/responsible thing to do is send the whole thing to recycling, okay but it’s really calling me to perform an easy repair.
We don’t have much advice, but maybe you can disconnect the battery and just power it using the cable only (no batteries)?
