RFID tag stuck in output

Hi all,

I’m using the M7e Hecto and everything was working ok until today. During my testing one of the tag IDs is “stuck” in the output as if it’s being read even if it’s extremely far away. I tried powering off the RFID reader, disconnecting the ESP32, I tried to perform stopReading() , delay(50) then startReading(). Nothing has worked. I can’t seem to clear that tag from the output. I’m reading the tags via serial.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Can you try to connect to the Universal Reader Assistant (URA) from Jadak/thingmagic and see what happens?

Thank you for the response.

I connected it to the URA and it’s still reading the tag. Actually it was reading 3 tags that weren’t close by. After lowering the read power to 5dBm the 2 other tags dropped off but the main tag that’s been sticking is still being read. I even lowered it to 0dBm (see attached pic) and it’s still continuously reading.

Is there a way to clear the internal cache or wipe the memory?

honestly… this is the first time I encounter this.

The URA does a lot of checks and settings that should solve this issue. Looks the firmware on the M7E is damaged

I see 2 ways forward:

  1. Ask for replacement of the module
  2. Update the firmware on the M7E

I would first try option 2. The update can be done with the URA (bottom right handside in the menu). You need to get the latest firmware ( 2.1.1) from https://www.jadaktech.com/resources/rfid-document-library/. Select the " M7E series module " and than “ThingMagic M7e Series UHF RFID Modules Firmware V2.1.1” It asks you for some information, but after that you can download the firmware.

Ok. I ended up changing the ID of the tag but I am concerned it might happen again during production.

I’ll try updating the firmware and will report back.

Thank you for the help!
