Seeking a Creative Solution

Hey there,

I’m looking for a solution to power the passive LED lights inside a Skylander toy on a handmade wooden display base connected to USB-A and a smart plug. The toy lights up using a 13.56 MHz HF RFID but unfortunately the transmitter (a “portal”) that came with the game requires a data handshake to work.

I am open to ideas, but right now I am looking for a standalone 13.56 MHz Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) module and antenna—specifically a transmitter capable of running on a standard 5V DC input via USB-A .

My goal is strictly continuous wireless power delivery (to power the LEDs without flickering or flashing) not data transmission. I plan to embed the transmitter inside a wooden display base to wirelessly illuminate the passive LEDs inside an HF RFID Skylander toy. Because it is going under wood, I need a solution optimized for a 3mm to 5mm z-axis air gap.

Is there any reason why you’re not considering RFID modules?

Probably because he doesn’t want RFID?

Something like this might work for your project.
