sparkfun bluegiga wt32 - tutorial etc?

yoveo:
ok, I can already pair my cell phone to the wt32. my problem at the moment ist that I used the serial communication both for sending commands to the wt32 and debugging. any idea on how to “mask” the debugging text in order that the wt32 won’t send me syntax error al the time?

Hi yoveo, thank you for your efforts, I am trying to understand the minimum Bluegiga pins used to make it work. I plan to use an Arduino Decimila with it. I would really appreciate if you or someone knowledgeable from the forum can verify my inquiry.- thank you very much

  • VCC - connect to 3.3 VCC supply of arduino

  • GND - connect to GND of arduino

  • TX0 - connect to RXI of arduino

  • RXI - connect to TX0 of arduino

  • BTEN - connect to +3.3v DC supply of arduino

hi there

yes, these are exactly the pins I used as well.

let me know how it works for you!

maybe it’s ok, it’s just a little annoying… another thing that bugs me that the module is sending

Hi,

You should upgrade the WT32 module to IWrap3 there is a firmware update download on the BlueGiga Support site. SPI connection is the normal method used to upgrade the modules.

http://www.bluegiga.com/support

However, you have to register to access the download.

Sparkfun should be able to host the update also.

If you cannot get the update, pm me and I will forward it to your email address.

Hello dez.ellis,

I would like to know if the BT arduino’s WT11 Bluegiga firmware be updated as well. I intend to simulate a BT keyboard. Your response is highly appreciated.

Hi,

IWrap3 is available for the WT11 bluetooth module.

I don’t know if the firmware in the “BT Arduino’s” WT11 Bluegiga firmware is IWrap3 or not; I don’t use Arduino kit.

I prefer to use the latest firmware with the WT32 modules but I don’t know the advantages or disadvantages of using IWrap3 with the WT11.

My point in the earlier post was to upgrade the WT32 to stop the message given by the Sparkfun WT32 modules.

I have recently purchased WT32 modules from other suppliers and the latest IWrap 3 firmware was pre-installed in these modules.

Thank you for the input. Where did you get the modules with the latest iWrap Firmware?

Thanks

I think i’m right in saying that Sparkfun now stock the modules with the latest firmware…

Best to ask first…

I got the WT32 modules with the latest firmware from a Bluegiga UK stockist www.2k1.co.uk Hopefully, as F.M.92 has mentioned the WT32 modules available now from Sparkfun have the latest firmware.

My original purchase of 14 WT32 modules from Sparkfun all had the Beta Release message (this is not good image when they are to be passed to a client). My problem at the time was that I could not update 12 of them on my very small PCB’s due to the SPI pins not being available on that design. My other larger design did have the SPI pins available but it meant de-soldering 12 WT32 modules before mounting them on the larger design that did have SPI pins available and then soldering them back onto the other smaller PCB’s. I tried botching up spring loaded pins onto the small design without SPI pin availability but failed to get reliable connections and ended up de-soldering etc etc.

I am currently using the BLUEGIGA WT32 breakout in a project and for the life of me I cannot find what the initial conditions for the chip are suppose to be and whenever I try to pair with it it keeps asking for a passcode when I was not given one for it. If anyone knows how to help me with my problems please respond.

I’ll give you a big hint for the default passkey, “1234”

I tried that along with other simple ones but it did not work.

try an empty passkey. At least on the WT32 module I’ve got, the default was no pass key. So just had to hit ‘next’ on the phone leaving the pass key blank. that got me connected.

Otherwise, set the pass key.

SET BT AUTH * xxxx

where ‘xxxx’ is the passkey you want to use.

I’ve got very interesting news…

I think I have (finally!) resolved my issues with this chip. connecting also the reset pin at then bring it HIGH for a second and then LOW seems to resolve all my issues. Now the chip is sending the beta message only once and then sends READY. Hope that helps other people who encountered the same problem…

best

Hi all,

sorry to dig this thread out of the grave but I have some questions using the bluegiga WT32 module.

I connect the circuit and discover on my PC but windows require a passkey. Can’t get around this.

Also tried setting up usb connection to PC and when plugging usb in doesn’t show up anywhere even in device manager.

I have downloaded and tried to install the USB driver from bluegiga.

I just want to change the BT Auth to some know pass key to connect and configure on my pc.

Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks
