What I want to do is getting odometer reading and some other information (rpm speed,) out of my cars obd2 port and save it into the SD card on the shield. I was suggested to use the uno-Sparkfun shield setup but right now when I have the hardware I couldnt do a thing!. This is my first project and im really planning to return everything and use ESP32 with MCP2515 because of lack of much resources on the shield- Arduino setup unlike the esp32 which has plenty of detailed setup instructions. I read the hook up guide and really didnt get it to be honest. Can someone tell me what I really need to do do get this do?

I also seen people using two shields to deal with the CAN bus! Do I need two do get what I want done?
Please I neeeed help
What I have :
CAN-BUS Shield
Uno R3
OBD-II to DB9 Cable
OBD-II Connector
SparkFun OBD-II UART (I just bought it to be sure I have all stuff needed to get my design done and will be no need to order stuff again)
Macchina OBD-II Extender Cable.

You won’t need both shields, unless you’re doing something funky 🙂 You also probably won’t use the obd2-uart adapter…and the extender only if you need more length. [We have an SD example](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/can-bus-shield-hookup-guide#arduino-library-installation) within our [Hookup Guide](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/can-bus-shield-hookup-guide#hardware-overview)
