The ARM Pocket 3D

Lets do it?

Replied to your email, hopefully… Got an error message about your domain, so let me know if you got it. If you did, you may see 2 emails from me…

Would love to see this project being sold by Sparkfun as a kit for beginners!

About the thickness I meant that the display is above the buttons.

With the chip on the other side the top side would be thinner.

A simple PCB with a display and this thumb stick https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9426 wouldn’t be to difficult to manufacture?

Only the thumbstick and a single action button would make it easier.

I think we should build it on the 2.2-inch color TFT.

Those are $4 on ebay while the OLED is like $10.

Even the 1.8" TFT is cheaper.

I will be slightly bigger but much cheaper.

And it will have an SD-card slot.

And perhaps use the ATmega1284 SMT to gain more flash and memory space.

Looks like you are fabbing your own boards? You can send me one, I could design an enclosure and send you a prototype and the CAD files… I could also design a finished PCB from Eagle.

Shoot me an email trevor@rossrobotics.com

Did not recive any email :frowning:

I ordered the thumbstick from Sparkfun.

I’ll put together a proto with a 2.2" TFT and send it to you.

You can then design and print the enclosure and we’ll setup a webpage with a wiki and sell it as a joint venture?

I believe I have fixed my email issue. I just switched hosting providers a couple of weeks ago.

Well there would be no need to design a case if the board is going to get redesigned anyway…

Got my hands on the PSP Analog Thumb joystick.

Using that and just a single button will make both the ARMpad and the PICO even smaller.

The ARMpad still uses the 2.2" color TFT but I’m trying to redesign the PICO from using a 0.96" OLED to using a 1.8" TFT instead.

That will not only improve the screen but also make it a lot cheaper.

OLEDs are expensive.

Even in numbers of 10 to 100.

If you’re going to spend that much on a button, why not use that $$ for a good OLED… Buttons are cents on the dollar compared to that joystick.

Because it replaces 4 buttons and brings value to the platform by being analog.

I guess you did research on the Adafruit OLED?

What did you come up with?

Yes, It’s not your everyday eBay display.

It’s not something you want to work with in numbers of thousands.

I sent you a reply regarding this.

There’s there no reason for me to do anything if you keep changing the design. Let me know when you’re finished.

I’m not changing any design.

They are all SPI displays.

Nothing has changed except perhaps the case.

Or your proposed PCB?

Its MOSI, CLK, D/C and CS on all displays.

Only the physical format and the code changes.
