I’m a retired electrical engineer. I obtained a PhD in 1984 with a focus on digital signal processing. I worked on underwater acoustic signal processing problems for 45 years in a university-based research and development laboratory. Upon retiring in 2019, I decided to learn how to design printed circuit boards, something I had not had the chance to work on during my career. In 2022 I used the Eagle PCB design package to design a low power acoustic preamp board which works quite well. In January 2025 I decided to learn how to use the Kicad PCB design package. Thus far I’ve designed three boards using Kicad and find it to be fairly intuitive. I’m also interested in sensors and have started to explore the world of QWIIC-based sensor modules.
