2 Lilypad Arduino USB Pluses w Ports Not Appearing

Hi there -

I have 2 of the LilyPad PrototoSnap Plus Kits where the LilyPad Arduino itself appears to be dead. When you power it, the little red CHG light on-board blinks once, but the yellow on-board Rx LED does not blink, which appears to be the case for most of the other ~19 of these boards I have (for a class). When plugged in via USB, the Arduino IDE does not see the new/relevant port opened on the computer, and so it’s not possible to upload code to either of these broken Arduinos.

I have tried different USB cords. I have tried connecting to different computers. I have tried restarting the computers. I have tried other LilyPad PrototoSnap Plus Kits on the same computers that do work. I have tried holding the rest button on the Arduino.

Is this a common problem with these devices? Is there a known solution for it?

Is 2/21 dead LilyPad Arduino’s after a couple months a reasonable failure expectation?

Thank you!

Hello, and thanks for posting.

If you open Device Manager and double click the reset button on the LilyPad, does a port appear then?
