Hi, I’ve been looking at the GM862/GM863 devices on the site, however i’d like something that can work on the 3G network.
What would you guys recommend that can connect to a 3G network?
Kind Regards,
Rowan

3G is a fuzzy ill-defined term, for cellular/mobile.
which Country?
Sorry, Australia.
sorry - gotcha.
As I recall (I’m in the US but have worked in the cellular industry), AUS has both GSM and CDMA cellular systems. So 3G means different things.
In the US, we have GSM-North America (not same as GSM Europe), CDMA and TDMA technologies among several operators. They are merging, but the legacy systems remain.
In CDMA systems (Verizon and Sprint in the US), 3G data services may mean EV-DO or EV-DO Rev A. These are based on the IS95B standards.
In GSM-No. America, 3G may mean UMTS for data.
The TDMA systems in No. America (original AT&T WIreless) are dead-ended.
I worked on OzPhone in its early days of privatization - it was going to go CDMA with Qualcomm pushing. Vodaphone as I recall was GSM.
Like others have said, telit is about the only manufacture that offers celluar modems with few restrictions like NDAs and such. They do have a 3G gsm module coming but its still preliminary
