My question: What is an appropriate 434MHz receiver module for this project? So far as I can tell, the ones for sale at Sparkfun and Adafruit implement various protocols on the 434MHz channel, and these protocols are not the ones used by Oregon Scientific. I think I need a module that will tell me when rising and falling edges in the signal occur. Or am I mistaken about this?
There are several Oregon Scientific weather sensor protocols. They are implemented in software, not the receiver. Any of the cheapest 434 MHz receivers will work, if you use the appropriate software.
Thanks. Yes, I know the OSci protocols are implemented in software. My problem was that there are a large variety of 434 MHz receivers out there, and I suspect that many of them will not work because they implement some other protocol rather than sending the raw high-low-high-… (ASK/OOK) signal. I’ve ordered a couple of very cheap receivers from ebay – hopefully at least one of them will work. I found a few specific recommendations on the web, but the recommendations are a few years old and the receivers they mention no longer seem to be for sale anywhere.
