… so I guess I needed to read more details than the product posted information and the RN-41 literature to find out that the Bluesmirf can’t be used to program an Arduino board wirelessly from the Arduino IDE. Information in the product header doesn’t list any exception. It says …“The BlueSMiRF is the latest Bluetooth® wireless serial cable replacement from SparkFun Electronics! These modems work as a serial (RX/TX) pipe. Any serial stream from 9600 to 115200bps can be passed seamlessly from your computer to your target.”
I have successfully programmed the Bluesmirf using $$$ and changed the name and added a BT pin as described in the literature. It is operating as a serial link on two projects very well, as advertised. Simply unplug the bluesmirf and use a usb programmer on the arduino board to load a program from the Arduino IDE. No-go on using BT to download of a program.
A post on a ladyada forum that stated this as a known. But I only found it in trying to find a solution to my problem.
Is this permanent issue or is this something that is possible to change someday?
