Arduino powered Gas Detector

Hello there all.

To get to the point here. I am a student going through the College school of Electronic Engineering. I am working on a project that will help me detect gas near the kitchen stove as a week ago or so I found that one of the valves was opened on the stove by the way that it was designed and yet there was no flame coming out of there. Needless to say I got Gas poisoning and it has caused me to have a moderate to severe case of Vertigo which is making me dizzy even a week after and it is causing me all kinds of grief at this point of time.

On top of that I am having a project due in a few weeks for something that could take an input and emit an output. So why not get Practical with this project and make something that will actually be useful to both me and my family and give an early warning so that no one will get sick. And I get good marks in class for it.

I am needing a couple of things and suggestions for this.

I know that I am going to need some wire, solder, resisters, and a few other things which I don’t know about quite yet which is why I am coming to you on this one.

So what I am going to need to do is to simply get the code to the detector, the complete bill of materials, and some schematics on how it’s all going to need to go together.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

You should start by looking at the available detectors.

You’ll have to determine if you have propane or natural gas. A search of the WWW will turn up numerous articles on controlling and reading the sensor, most often using some flavor of an Arduino.
