Arduino Starter kit Circuit 7 TMP36

Hi,

Firstly a great product.

I am a complete noob on circuit 7 TMP36.

I have checked and double checked that i am wired correctly but i get completely erratic readings:-

voltage: 0.00 deg C: -50.00 deg F: -58.00

voltage: 0.34 deg C: -15.82 deg F: 3.52

voltage: 0.48 deg C: -2.15 deg F: 28.13

voltage: 0.35 deg C: -15.33 deg F: 4.40

voltage: 0.34 deg C: -16.31 deg F: 2.64

voltage: 0.33 deg C: -16.80 deg F: 1.77

voltage: 0.33 deg C: -16.80 deg F: 1.77

voltage: 0.32 deg C: -17.77 deg F: 0.01

voltage: 0.32 deg C: -18.26 deg F: -0.87

voltage: 0.33 deg C: -17.29 deg F: 0.89

Does it look like my TMP36 is faulty, or is there another explanation. I am powering my Arduino through USB from my Macbook Pro.

can anyone advise?

If you’re really really really sure the wiring is all correct and that you’ve got the TMP36 and not the 2N2222 and that it’s not in backwards … then yes it sounds like it’s faulty.
