arduino uno and big easy drive dual Y axis- motors knocking

dear all,

i have problem with knocking stepper motor.

my system built from arduino uno, 3 big easy drive and 3 stepper motor.

2 motors, Dual Y axis (bridge with 2 motors moving up and down), connected to same output in the arduino (splited wires) to dir and step to both Big Easy Drive.

in one of the two i switched pair of wires in the motors.

2 problems:

  1. the motor with the switched pair is knocking (like heartbeats).

  2. the 2 motors start at the same potion and after 2 seconds the motor that knocking losing steps (creating difference in heights)

i switched both of pairs and the second motor start knocking.

i found in the internet parallel and seirial connection but to same controller, not to different controller.

what is wrong?

The knocking you hear is a stepper motor skipping steps. It sounds like you’re trying to build some kind of 3D printer/CNC machine. But don’t understand why you have 2 motors driving one axis… That’s what I gathered from your post anyway.

its foam machine.

needs 2 motoros to drive up and down the hot wire.

one more thing the knocking are also happened when the motors in standby or didnt get any commands.

Without detailed specs for the motors, motor power supply, a proper schematic of how everything is wired, the current limit setting on the drivers and the code (posted using code tags), the best anyone can do is guess what the problem is. Avoid fritizing diagrams.
