Arduino Uno, How much can I ask it to do? Input/output wise.

Sorry, I ask this on another group, but find it was not a good fit.

I’m getting my son involved in an Arduino project.

I have an electronics background, but no processor/programming background

My son will actually do better in the programming area.

We are building a Mung beans sprouter for my wife (more to learn, but we also grow sprouts)

The will include a temp sensor and heater-- Adjustable

An LCD Display to see and set the temperature and set schedule and on time.

And a timer to drive a pump to water the sprouts.

If possible I would like to be able to set the watering schedule and the amount of on time.

Can an Arduino UNO do all three processes?

Is there enough inputs to adjust the temp and also to adjust schedule and on time?

I have 12V heat pads, LM35 temp sensor, Relays, Suspect I can come up with a 12V supply with enough capacity to

run the heater, and pump.

I have a pump, but may or may not use the one I have.

Need Arduino or would it be better to have a Redboard, cheaper is better, but not necessary.

Also, need a display, maybe Jumpers? A case and what else?

Also, I didn’t find a UNO specific Forum. Is there one?

Thanks all, Mavam

A Redboard can handle all of that fine https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15123 - there are in-built timer functions/examples

For the other stuff, this LCD https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10097 , this PHT sensor https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16298 , and this soil sensor https://www.sparkfun.com/products/17731 should work fine for what you’re after

Be sure to go through the hookup guide for each product (under documents tab on each product page); here’s the Redboard one https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/re … okup-guide to get started
