Arduino Wi-Fi Shield, How do you update firmware?

Please pardon my ignorance, I’m new to the Arduino and micro controllers.

I recently bought the Arduino Wi-Fi Shield and got it working but it kept losing its Wi-Fi connection, apparently this can be fixed with a firmware update.

Is there any exhaustive step by step guide on how to update the Arduino Wi-Fi Shield?

I’ve done a bunch of web research and found a handful of posts but seem to be missing something.

If I’m ever able to get the firmware updated on the Wi-Fi shield, I may make a guide.
