Interested in purchasing the AS7343 spectral sensor and want to pair it with the Arduino IDE. What is the actual output of the channels? I am unsure of the units being shown in the examples I find online. There is also a video on the product landing page that shows ‘magnitude’ on a y-axis of 2 graphs; unsure of the units for this as well.
The data sheet for the device is the very best resource, and explains how to interpret the numbers output for each of the channels. See Figure 8.
Naturally, the results depend on the light source, its distance from the sensor, and your choices for gain and integration time.
Although the output from each channel is directly proportional to the illumination intensity in the corresponding wavelength range, most applications of sensors like this involve relative differences or changes in intensity, rather than absolute values.
