Hi, I’m relatively new to arduino and it’s endless possibilities but been planning a project for a while now .
On my property I have some large palisade steel swing gates and would like to operate them from a remote, I haven’t really written down any plans but so far I’ve got thoughts on a large motor to drive a wheel on the gate (I have plenty of These around so shouldn’t be a problem) then I have to power these motor or control them I was thinking a relay attachment for the arduino or is there a better option to go with? That’s the basic function to do this, for the add ons I was thinking it needed a radio receiver to be able to open from the vehicle, a remote mounted keypad so it could be opened if the fob wasn’t with the person that wanted to open it, also some sort of beam sensor so that it doesn’t close on a vehicle or person maybe some telltale lights when it’s opperating
I think that would get my basic functionality sorted but I would also like to control a slide bolt so the gate has a mechanical stop and doesn’t just rely on the wheel traction to ground to keep it closed, could this be controlled with some sort of servo or are there better options?
My coding isn’t too great so would take a while for me to write what it needs. Any input on any aspect of this would be appreciated I’m open to suggestions
