Guys,
I’m currently in the process of building a middleware for IoT devices to be easily managed. The project is called Zegg (http://zegg.co) and our recent discussion internally has been what protocol should be included in our minimal viable product specification. The general consensus from our own research has been MQTT because of its assumptions of slow and sparse connectivity and minimal number of transmission (hence low power usage). But, we’ve also heard good things about CoAp and AMQP… Thoughts? Any experiences you’ve had on any of the protocols and why you would continue to use/not use them? Thanks, guys!
Also (a shameless plugin here), if you are a hardware developer, we would love to talk to you to learn more about your previous development experience. If you can please sign up on our website (http://zegg.co), and reply to the automated email, I would love to chat for about 10 minutes on the phone to see how we can improve our project.
