Best way to control sensor power...

I have a project where I am using SHARP IR prox sensors. I have multiple sensors to sense different ranges. I need to shut down sensors that I am not using so that the sensor I want to read is not ‘seeing’ IR emissions from sensors I am not interested in. I have been looking at 5v solid state relay’s (SSR) but they seem overkill. I need something small and lightweight as this will eventually live in a UAV.

Any hints for me?

A transistor.

A link to some datasheets would be useful. I will assume they use less than 100mA each and so a low power logic level FET put between ground and the device’s GND pin would act as an on/off switch.

You can eliminate the diode and R1 above.
