BlueSmirf gold cannot connect via serial

Hi

I have 2 Blue SMiRF modules, one works, the other doesn’t.

The one not working (WRL-00158) is connected via an FTDI cable to my computer. When connected it will blink red (once every second) and when I then try to connect with putty or screen and hit ‘$$$’ nothing happens. I have tried with 9600/57600 and 115200 baud rate. It is also actually getting pretty hot compared to the other Blue SMiRF modem (WRL-00582) I own. The WRL-00158 cannot be seen nor paired from other BT devices.

Any help would be appreciated.

A hardware reset did the trick.

hardware reset:

  • GND on pin 22 (PIO4) during startup

  • release

  • 3 subequent GND on pin 22 (PIO4)

  • red LED should be blinking fast
