BlueSmirf V2 to iPad

I have a extra Sparkfun F9P along with a working RTK base station so I thought I’d make a surveying pole using SW Maps on my cellular enabled iPad. I purchased a BlueSmirf V2 to solder to the F9P expecting it to connect to the iPad and use the NTRIP client in SW Maps for corrections. My iPad will not find the BlueSmirf. What is the secret to making it work?

iOS doesn’t like SPP version of BT; enable BLE and it should be fine https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_Blue … martphone/

I am able to see and connect to the device with an Android tablet but when I try my iPad or iPhone it does not find the device. Doe I need to enable BLE somehow?

Yes, on your Apple device…you’ll need to search online for how to do it on your specific device

I have to say that the documentation for this is horrible. So I finally realize that the Bluesmirf V2 is not BLE enabled by default. I have it connected to my F9P board and can connect to it via bluetooth with my Android table and my Windows PC but am not able to get it to enter command/config mode. Does it have to be done via the USB to serial adapter?

Yes, it looks like that is the case (any https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_Blue … connection

Yes also :-/ https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_Blue … h-commands

You can use any 3/5v serial UART adapter

Or use something with android instead
