Long-time customer, though not had the time to devote to the hobby that I once did. For a long time I’ve been looking to find a LiPo Charge/Boost circuit that I could adapt and integrate into a project I’ve been working on over the years. It’s been so long that at this point, it would be moot to build it, yet somehow it keeps calling me.
Previous iterations of the LiPo board had a boost circuit that included an insidiously difficult-to-work-with QFN chip. I spent many iterations using other IC’s that came in less torturous packages but could never get it working.
Now I see that SparkFun is using a chip available in an MSOP package, which while still tricky, at least has actual leads (and there was much rejoicing).
Looking over the schematic though, the inductor is a bit of a mystery. Yes, 2.2uH at 3A, and from the pictures it looks like a shielded package. But analog circuit design being one of my weak points, I don’t know enough to be able to pick an exact part to use. Closest I’ve found is a IFSC1515AHER2R2M01, but I have no clue whether that will suffice.
Is there any way to find the exact part on the BOM for this product? Everything else looks pretty standard, but there’s not much detail on the inductor and I imagine that the devil really is in the details there.
