can someone confirm power requirement for WavTrigger board

trying to go through all the doc i can find on this board and am not 100% certain on whether or not i can power this from a cars 12v electrical system. And if i do have it hardwired and mounted in a car how does this affect programming while running off of the cars power ?

The barrel jack is where you supply power. Alternatively, you can use the nearby VIN and GND via’s for supplying power. Either way, any input voltage between 6V and 15V will work.

  1. If you’re planning to use the on-board amplifier, read this first. Next, please consider using a

supply voltage of no more than 9V, preferably less. Playing loud audio with the on-board amp for

extended periods can draw a lot of current and the lower the input voltage, the less warm the 5V

regulator will get. This is especially important if you’re encasing the WAV Trigger in a small

project box. I personally use 6V wall mount adaptors like this. Alternatively, you can power the

WAV Trigger with regulated 5V (5Vin) and bypass the on-board regulator completely

It should work as long as the car’s voltage regulator keeps the voltage spikes (from alternator) below 15v…you could hook up a multimeter with the engine running and rev it to see the high spike voltage

The >9v advisory notice is only if you plan to use the on-board amplifier; using an external amp will negate this

unfortunately the car is in build stage and motor is not running

would it be safer to lower the voltage with something like this?

Yes, lower voltage would be much better.
