can`t resive signal from my EM-406 trough the arduino board

hello!

I have conected the em-406 to my sparkfun gps eval.board and resive signals when I use sirfdemo and quickterm dt.but once I`ve hook it up on my gps shield on top of my arduino and run the gps test parsing sketch from ladyada I dont resive anything. The em-406 is blinking so its working but the tx and rx lights on my arduino are not active.Iknow I have to set the button on the gps shield to dline to transfer the program to arduino.I have tried to set it in uart posision as well but still not working. The arduino program just says:

GPS parser

Do I have to connect the tx and rx on the arduino to the gps shield with jumpers?

I thought it was enough to solder the 6 and 8 pins to the gps shield and insert it on top of the arduino board

greatings from Norway

Check the schematic and product again. You can see the traces on the shield are just going from the connector on the GPS to the pins on the board. They don’t go over to the headers. You need to connect the correct pins to whatever pins on the Arduino you are using. They are just broken out, but don’t go anywhere really. You route them where you want.
