Choosing Antennas

Hello,

i saw some previous posts about the BT-560 Helical antenna and the F9P RTK. Has anybody tried it yet? Also does this antenna needs a ground plate (my guess is that it doesn’t). Lastly is the “GNSS Multi-Band L1/L2 Surveying Antenna (TNC) - TOP106” antenna going to make a big difference to the performance of the F9P base station or the “classic” u-blox GNSS Multi-Band Magnetic Mount Antenna - 5m (SMA) with a ground plate will have similar results?

Thanks for reaching out to us on this.

The bt-560 is used for weight-sensitive applications; it does not appear to need a grounding plane (there isn’t one mentioned in suggested products)

The TOP106 https://www.sparkfun.com/products/17751 would demonstrate much higher performance out-of-the-box VS the https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15192 - the TOP106 has 3 hybrid couplers, ‘classic’ uses 2. We have no information on the performance of the ‘classic’ with a grounding plane.

Hope this helps, and happy sparking!
