I have ordered several of these 5 way switches and wasn’t able to find an SFE lib entry for them. I tried to layout a part in Eagle after downloading the datasheet but after print-checking it, turns out to large… I went back to check some of the dim’s (like the spacing between the mount holes), and all seems ok. Not sure what I seem to be missing… I was wondering if anyone allready has the part made for Eagle…? It would save some time…
P.S. I have updated the Post and included what I have so far…
I just started with Eagle and I figured I’d give ‘making a part’ a try. I do however have PCB design under my belt, but that was a long time ago and with different software.
See how it compares to the real part.
First off, verify everything on my part! Like I said, I’m new. I went by the datasheet and as far as I know it looks pretty accurate.
There are two lands for what I believe are strain reliefs (The large lands). There are no connections to these pads and I didn’t know if Eagle would complain about them. It accepted them without any errors during design. Just wanted you to be aware of them.
Let me know how it looks and if I missed anything…
I think where i screwedup is trying to create the part at a 45 degree angle from the start.
Bad idea…!! Thanks for the help…!! This looks GREAT and prints out just fine. I am trying to put together a proto board for the 4-D Systems uLCD-144 Color Display Module which uses the 5 way switch for simple mavagation using the A-D input. I can’t seem to find a good board that takes this device so why not pen one up. I could post it here when I get it pulled together… (don’t get much playtime during the week)
P.S. I hope SFE has a look at your part and adds it to their LIB
