Common Emitter Transistor Amp and LT Spice

I’m trying to put together a very simple transistor amp, but am running into difficulty.

I simulated the circuit in LT Spice and optimized C1 and C2 to produced maximum usable gain at low frequencies (with minimal low reported noise in the noise simulation).

When I hookup an iPhone as input and an 8 ohm speaker as output, I get garbage out. I do at least get some sound…but it sounds horrible.

I’m clearly missing something.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Schematic is missing.

A common emitter amp is a very poor impedance match to a speaker, and won’t work well.

Use a common collector amp instead, or “totem pole” output. Better yet an LM386.
