connecting bigtime to a pc in order to program it

Hi,

I would like to buy SparkFun BigTime Watch Kit and program it, which additional products should I buy in order to program it?

Will SparkFun FTDI Basic Breakout - 3.3V + SparkFun USB Mini-B Cable - 6 Foot be sufficient?

How will the breakout board connect to the bigtime watch PCB?

Those will work.

All you need is some headers connected to the FTDI header on the top of the PCB and then you can plug the FTDI into that.

Thanks YellowDog.

Doesn’t the Breakout have pins which can be inserted to the watch pcb?

If not, what should I buy? this: 2mm 10pin XBee Header?

The FTDI has a socket on it, you could use some [long headers to connect both boards together though.

If you slip the headers through the holes on the BigTime board and then bend them slightly so they are tight in the holes that would provide a temporary connection for programming.](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12693)

Thanks

Hi again,

I got the watch and sold it, inserted the battery and it seems to work.

I tried to connect the programmer in order to change the code to 24 hours instead of 12 hours as initial test.

It doesn’t work (and now the watch doesn’t work either), I’m missing something.

I need assistance in order to solve this.

BTW, can flipping the programmer pins damage the board?

I have sold the programmer pins in order to ensure a good connection.

The attached pictures show the connection and the software configuration.

I get the following error:

Problem uploading to board. See [http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload](http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload) for suggestions.

I thought the problem was with the baud rate and tried to run it from a command window without -b57600, but it didn’t help.

Are you sure you have the correct port selected and that you have the IDE set to “Arduino Pro or Pro Mini 3.3V/8MHz w/ ATmega328” as your board type?

Yes, please see the attached pictures from previous post:
