Cree XM-L LED Project

All,

New to the forum and my names William. I’m an electrical tech and work on VFD’s, PLC’s, HMI’s, Network Servers, MCCs, etc.

Never done PCBs but now I’m very interested in it! This will be my first project and I’ll post my progress as I continue the project!

And you experienced people can hopefully tutor me along the way, ha ha.

Hope this is located in the proper location : D

Currently building component library in Altium to include the components that I’ll be using.

Manufacturer didn’t provide me the dimensions I wanted as for some reason Altium to my knowledge only draws pads from the center so I drew

up a quick reference drawing with AutoCAD to include the centers.

I don’t think your links are working.

Is there a question or you just documenting your project?

All,

Just documenting the progress. Decided to go with a much less

Powered led due to restrictions on board size and due to the high

Thermal rating of the led.

Using Eagle Cad now it’s much easier than Altium as far as the

Learning curve goes. Working out the board now, done it a couple times now trying to clean up the design. Making my own led halos for my truck.

I do have a question tho.

Having trouble finding a SMD 12v to 12v regulator. Everyone I look at requires 20vi to get reg 12vo.

Do they make at 1A12-15vi to 12o regulator in a small surface mount package so I can regulate on the board?

Thanks ks
