Would anyone be interested in a breakout board for a crystal and pair of capacitors? I’m thinking of something like this: http://dangerousprototypes.com/wp-conte … G_6508.jpg. A couple of places seem to offer them, but nobody has them in stock. I’d like to see Sparkfun offering these.
I would think anyone working with breadboarded Arduinos have crystals and supporting caps already. And, all boards with the ATmega chip already have a crystal and caps…
But, I could see some beginners buying these. Especially if they are cheaper than buying a crystal and caps separately.
If I were Sparkfun, I may stock these but not very many just to see how sales go…
The target user is someone who’s breadboarding with atmega. Here’s another version:

Obviously
If you’re breadboarding, why not just buy through-hole crystals and capacitors? I can’t see how SF would make money on these unless they were ridiculously high priced, in which case no one would buy them.
Wouldn’t it be easier for anyone needing this kind of thing to just buy an oscillator instead of a bare crystal? An oscillator, which typically has 4 legs (one is either N/C or enable) includes the capacitors.
