Dallas Connector in the eval board

i have an eval olimex and i don’t understand what is a Dallas Connector

and what i can use it in

and is the Battery Connector for an external battery not for the battery in the battery holder

A “Dallas” connector typically in an Olimex eval board is for use with 1-Wire devices. One of the most common 1-Wire device is iButton, you can checkout www.ibutton.com.

The Dallas connector is nothing more than a GPIO pin with a strong pull up, you can check the exact details in the schematics of your board.

The 1-Wire protocol uses just a single wire (of course with a GND) for transfer of data as well as suppliying of power to parasitic 1-Wire slaves. A popular 1-Wire slave is the digital thermometer DS18S20 from Dallas-Maxim Semicondutor.
