Display component values in eagle

How do you get the component values/names to display on the silkscreen layer?

I could use the text tool but that would be tedious.

I believe using the “Change” tool - “Layer…” works with smashed names/values.

It won’t let me change the layer.

In fact there isn’t a ‘Layer’ option

There is only Number, Name, Color and Fill Style.

It will only let me change the ‘Name’ value.

I don’t know why you would want to do this. I would just include the name and value layers when generating the silkscreen gerbers.

But as FartingMonkey92 suggested, you can “smash” the component then change the layer of the name and value.

Select Smash command.

Left click on component.

Select Change > Layer…

Layer windows displays.

Left click on Layer.

Left click on text.

That’s a much better idea, thanks
