I’m a graphic designer, just starting out with Arduino. I’m trying to build some large scale interactive projects using Arduino. Right now, I have photocell sensors that trigger a pre-recorded sound. I would also like the sensors to trigger a display of some kind but am looking for more artistic freedom than a simple LCD. I’m hoping to use creative typography and perhaps some icons. Any ideas on what the best display for this type of thing might be? I would ideally like a larger display rather than smaller, but mostly concerned with artistic freedom.
Thanks!
I don’t yet have a feel for what you’re looking for but let me toss out a couple ideas, you filter them as desired.
I thinking more of a display screen of some kind, I just want more freedom than the regular “digital letters” look. Is there a projection unit that can be managed by Arduino?
Thanks for throwing me a bone!
Would an HDTV qualify as giving you enough freedom ? Updating the display would be more than I’d care to do with an Arduino but something like a Raspberry Pi would qualify for the same $$.
As far as projection units … the type of thing I had in mind would have been a custom make, though I’m sure Google could find some plans.
Perhaps you should try to put some hardware limits on what you have in mind. Size, how often it’ll be updated, color depth, number of pixel/sq in, cost, etc, etc. Right now your desires are so unspecified that I suspect most people don’t have a good idea of what to suggest. Even if you don’t know the numbers, give examples of what you’re looking for. And what you’re not.
Oh yes, so right now I am thinking about something that would either be a screen or a projection that is about 12"x12". Ideally I would like to be able to create an animation in RGB that would loop. I dont want to spend a ton of money, but have no idea how much these types of things are. I think my final project may have several displays in which case if they could be less expensive that is better.
Thanks for pointing me towards Raspberry Pi, that might just be the ticket. Although if I am doing multiple projections, I would probably need to have multiple Raspberry Pis?
Thanks so much for your help!
