Does the Sparkfun cr2032 Coin Cell Battery - 20mm have a bitter coating?

I am looking to purchase a cr2032 lithium battery without a bitter coating as it disrupts the connection to the device I am using. Many larger companies (duracell, energizer, etc.) have this coating as a safety measure and I am trying to figure out if the Sparkfun cr2032 coin cell batteries come without it? Thank you!

While I can’t guarantee it, the MSDS doesn’t mention denatonium benzoate or child safety so my presumption is that it does not have a bitterant coating - please update this thread if you find otherwise!

I’ve given up trying to avoid the bitter apple coating and simply use a small piece of about 400 grit Emory sanding paper around the edge and lightly on the front and back terminals.

it doesn’t take much. Just a quick swipe/ I found this out the hard way when a lot of my airtags (Apple product) had dead batteries and the new 2032’s didn’t solve the problem. Wiping with alcohol or a lense wipe doesn’t work. You need to scratch that edge and the bottom.

Airtags need the edges scraped!

Thank you!

Great, thank you!

Rinse in warm water & dry?

A batt I got for my car fob has the embittering coating but also blue dye microdots that get on my hands during routine handling. Blue mouth babies, lol.

I haven’t purchased a CR2032 from SparkFun in quite a while but i can say the ones they sold 5 years ago did not have the bitter coating.
