Drill file using Eagle (on Mac)

Hi,

How do I create the drill file using Eagle (on a Mac)?

I read the tutorial http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/109 on the SparkFun site. I am able to generate the 6 gerber files. I can submit these to BatchPCB but it complains about missing drill file. Is the drill file generated by Eagle or do I need to run Viewplot?

Also, once upon a time there was a .ulp file to fix silk screen. Is that no longer needed? I don’t see it mentioned anywhere in the turorial. I am using Eagle 5.11.

I’ve used Eagle to make boards at home before (toner transfer). This is mu first attempt to send a board to a board house. To hopefully eliminate any design errors, my first board will be the CUI32 board using Open Source files. I “think” I want to use the v18 version board. But still have to investigate the differences. Ultimately I hope to modify the CUI32 board to include a PHY and ethernet jack. But that is after I have my first successful board on my hands.

Thanks,

Adi

I may have found the solution. The Eagle CAM job creates a text file which very convincingly looks like the drill file. Uploading it to BatchPCB results in recognizing it as a drill file too. So I suppose as long as the holes end up in the right spot this should do…???

I’m don’t know what CAM job you ran on your board but it isn’t uncommon for NC drill files to end in a .txt extension. So long as everything looks good on a Gerber viewing program then you probably have the right CAM processor settings. You are double checking your boards in a Gerber viewer right???

I will be before submitting a board for production. I uploaded a couple of things, the CUI32 and the UBW32 just to see what the costs will be. So I did finally figure it out. The latest thing I am struggling with is that BatchPCB tells me my files are in a folder inside the zip archive, when they are really not. And I don’t know what I did different to make that error not happen…
