e-field sensor

I was wondering if there were any hacker accesable e-field sensing chips out there you could carry?

I was looking at the MC33794 but it is in an odd package that is not very suitable for breadboarding.

Hello

Freescale has two demo boards for their E-Field chip namely:-

1.) KIT33794DWBEVM - simple demo board with E-Field chip and a HCS08 MCU with RS232 and MON08 circuitry to reprogram the chip, it also comes with a 8k Limited Codewarrior C Compiler, Costs ~ USD70.

2.) MC56F8300DSK - A versatile DSP eval board, with a microphone, speaker, headphone out, E-Field sensor with 1 PCB trace based electrode and a powerful 60 MHz 56F8323 DSP hybrid controller with on-chip oscillator. It also has a JTAG interface for re-programming. Comes with 16kb limit Codewarrior toolchain. Costs around USD79.

I got hold of both the boards and used it to evaluate the E-Field chip, the DSP board is a real value for money.
