Eagle >VALUE functionality

I just made a new library part in Eagle and placed it in my schematic. When I went to define a value for the part, Eagle complained that the part “has no user definable value.” I took care to put “>VALUE” in layer 96 (Values) in the symbol creation. And I did the same for layer 26 (tValues) in the package creation.

Not sure what I missed. I’ve attached the lbr file here if anyone cares to take a look. It was created using Eagle 5.11.0.

Since the forum doesn’t allow .lbr files, I renamed dan.lbr to danlbr.txt. Please change the name accordingly.

Thanks!

Open the library editor, go into the device editor. At the bottom right you will see a radio button labeled “Value” - “Off” or “On”.

Also giving your devices a prefix will help neaten up your designs.

Oh. That was easy.

Thanks!
