I regular check this forum to see whether I can help. Often people include an image, but these are often small and hard to read. I have tried to enlarge the display by double clicking or right clicking but that does not do it. I looked in the PhPBB manual but I can’t find a way to display these pictures larger. Is there a possibility for users to do so or is that only for moderators and others with a higher permission ?
Thanks for the feedback! We in Tech Support absolutely agree since it’s hard to show a detailed diagram with the small image limits. This is something we’ve been working on with our IT department for a while. I’m not sure what the status of that project is off the top of my head but we do want to increase the image size limit. It’s just something in the back-end on the Forums that we don’t have easy access too since a ton of large images can be a burden.
Thanks. I don’t expect increasing the maximum image size will be the right solution. It will take a lot of space and still not able to see it correctly. Better would be to have images attached that can then be downloaded (like zip files). According to the phpBB manual, adminstration guide, posting settings, attachment settings, Image Category Settings: there is an option to do so :
DISPLAY IMAGES INLINE: How image attachments are displayed. If this is set to NO, a link to the attachment will be given instead, rather than the image itself (or a thumbnail) being displayed inline.
Thanks for the tip! That does sound like a much better and less resource-intensive solution here. I’ll forward that on to our team lead. In the meantime, I’ve found hosting the images on another site (eg. Imgur, DropBox) and then linking to the image url works well for a good large image.
