Force Sensitive Resistor - Small

I would like to ask https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Se … 578561501

Are the Force units in Figures 3 and 4 grams?

And i see here Page 4 https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/downloa … 578896110

says force is not measured in grams and what they really mean is Newtons * 100

So I want to ask what is the correct unit?

And how is it measured?

and would like to ask if the effective sensing area is only the Interdigitated part. If the pressure is also applied to the periphery, can it not be measured

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out. From the sources I’ve found the units are Newtons * 100. I would assume that the (g) is for Gravity which is N/kg. The product data sheets on various FSR’s made by Interlink were tested using 1000 gram loads.

I confess to have never worked with these components before.

However, it appears to me that the overall capacity is 100 Newtons / ~22 pounds-force / 10 kilograms-force.

The chart on pages 8-9 gives some example data across this range.

I think the g is grams.
