I have a FT2232C here. I realize it’s an older chip, not recommended anymore, but I wanted to make a simple JTAG USB interface. I was planning on just wiring it up with the suggested method from the FTDI app note, or something like the Ethernut Turtelizer 2.
The board would be the same as the Turtelizer 2 schematic, except without the RS232, the level shifters and with a 20 pin connector. This would be exclusively for programming/debugging SAM7 parts.
My question is, is it okay to leave out the level shifters if I’m sure I’m not going to use them with my selected target?

Hi,
Just let us know what is your target.
You could use Amontec JTAGkey Layout from http://www.amontec.com .

I already mentioned my target in the original post. This is for SAM7 parts, so Atmel AT91SAM7.
I already have a layout. My question is, are the level shifters necessary? This is a 3.3v target.
if only one SAM7 is connected, so the reply could be:
You do not need LS !

Thanks. This is just temporary, and I just want to use up this chip, since I bought it a while ago. I will likely buy a better solution sometime soon. I am looking forward to seeing the release of your UIPKey product.
