Generating Gerber files with Orcad

Hi,

I am trying to generate gerber files with orcad and i keep stumble on this strange problem. After generating the files i open them into a gerber viewer to check if everything is ok, but everything is not ok, there are lots of spots on the board, all kinds of shapes that cover and mess my tracks. What am i doing wrong ? (I’ve attached picture so you can see the errors)

thanks, Florin

I have no idea, and their odd because they don’t even line with the pins or holes…

yes I’m starting to think that this is an error generated by the viewer that I’m using which is Gerbv RS247/X viewer 2.0.1

What other gerber viewer do you think I should try for checking my files ?

Try [viewplot, or send me the gerber in the picture…](http://www.viewplot.com/)

I use GC-Prevue.

Both are good but you don’t need to install Viewplot…

they look perfect in viewplot :D

Mental note to self: don’t use Gerbv RS247/X viewer 2.0.1… (is that one for Linux/ubuntu?)

FartingMonkey92:
What gerber viewer were you using in the picture?

It’s called gerbv http://gerbv.sf.net It has both Windows and Linux versions

Now i have one more question… My board house also said I’m missing a board outline, could you guide me to add that ? I’m using Orcad

Yup, good note :) But the program worked fine with gerber RS247/x files generated from Eagle.. I actually do my work with Eagle, but now I'm stuck with a project already started in orcad.. and I need to adjust some stuff and send the files to the board house.

Read from “Creating a Board Template File” in [this page:wink: (3/4 way down the page, think that’s what you need…)

Was that what you needed? (first google result… )](OpenStax)

i also did some searching before posting questions here, and i found related articles, some of them also on sparkfun forum, that were tackling the problem a bit different, and it didn’t worked for me. Now I’m trying this solution to see if it works :D](OpenStax)

Thanks, it worked

No probs…

(if you have any more problems, don’t hesitate to post)
